Steps 2 Skill:Skill builder for Kids app for iPhone and iPad

Steps 2 Skill (S2S) is the most valued app for anyone in a teaching role (e.g. parents, teachers, behaviorists, speech and language pathologists, and occupational therapists). Steps 2 Skill (S2S) delivers a structure that supports learning with using research-based practices for teaching children with disabilities. It is completely customizable allowing every user to tailor the app to fit their individual needs and teaching style. The best asset is the child lock allowing a child to independently use the app without worry of mistakenly deleting information.

Steps 2 Skill could be used for:
• checklists, schedules, task analysis, job or chore duties,
• learning targets, reviewing of key concepts, front-loading of new concepts,
• behavioral expectations for environmental settings.

Steps 2 Skill (S2S) is comprised of three screens: (1) groups, (2) skills, and (3) steps. All screens have features of customizing own names; uploading a visual image either from an icon library or a photo from device and setting a child lock.
Groups allow categorization of similar skills or grouping similarities together for easier access. Some examples of a Group may include: student/persons names, subjects (reading, writing, math) and/or parts of an environment (bedroom, kitchen, cafeteria, classroom).
- Groups screen has an additional feature of selecting a color from 10 options that will continue as the background for skills and steps screens. Selecting specific colors will provide as an additional visual reminder of what skills are similar to each other.

Skills allows for a user to include all the skills that are being worked on within the group. For example, a group labeled “morning routine” may include the skills: brushing teeth, putting on shirt, putting on pants, putting on shoes and making the bed.

Steps are clear and concise individual actions that are required to perform the skill that was selected on the previous screen. On a skill of “brushing teeth”, the steps screen will list the order of actions that are needed such as getting toothbrush/toothpaste, spreading toothpaste on toothbrush, etc.…
-Steps screen includes an additional feature of setting a timer for each step. Setting a time expectation will provide a reminder to complete the step with a sense of urgency.
*** Lastly, press BEGIN and all the steps play in a slideshow for the length of time set by the timer.
